LOS ANGELES (Oct. 28, 2026) — Golden Boy Promotions announced today the signing of top contender Brandon “The Cannon” Adams (26-4, 16 KOs) of Watts, California.
“I’m extremely excited to begin this next chapter with Golden Boy Promotions,” Adams said. “At this point in my career, I know exactly what I want to accomplish, and I truly believe Golden Boy has the experience, the relationships and the tools to help me reach my ultimate goal of becoming a world champion. I want to sincerely thank Oscar De La Hoya and Eric Gomez for believing in me and giving me this opportunity. Closing out my career with one of the most respected promotional companies in the world means a lot to me. I’ve worked my entire life for this moment, and I’m more motivated than ever to finish what I started and leave my mark on this sport.”
“Brandon Adams is a battle-tested veteran who has proven he can compete with and beat some of the best fighters in the division,” said Oscar De La Hoya, chairman and CEO of Golden Boy Promotions. “He’s dangerous, experienced and always comes ready to fight, and we’re excited to give ‘The Cannon’ the platform to make another statement.”
A native of Watts, California, Adams grew up idolizing Mike Tyson and earned the nickname “The Cannon” for his explosive, fight-ending power.
A world title challenger, Adams faced Jermall Charlo for the WBC middleweight world title in June 2019. Rather than let that setback define him, he used the experience to fuel his growth and came back stronger. In March 2021, he stopped the durable Serhii Bohachuk in the eighth round to claim the WBC Continental Americas super welterweight title. He added to his resume by capturing the WBA Continental Americas super welterweight title against then-undefeated Francisco Veron. Adams later won a unanimous decision over Bohachuk in a highly anticipated rematch, reinforcing that he can win against top-level opposition.
Outside the ring, Adams is committed to developing the next generation of fighters. In October 2022, he opened Cannonnation Boxing Gym in Santa Fe Springs, California, where he is a part owner and coach. Balancing his fighting career with his role as a mentor, Adams is driven to help others grow through boxing, developing not only their skills but also their confidence, discipline and character.
