In his most recent outing, John “Scrappy” Ramirez secured a unanimous decision victory at the SAP Center in San Jose as part of the Amari Jones vs. Vincenzo Gualtieri event, continuing to build momentum on a big stage. Prior to that, Ramirez appeared on the Raul Curiel vs. Jordan Panthen card at Acrisure Arena, delivering another trademark “Scrap-Show” performance to open his 2026 campaign.

In April 2024, he stepped into his first world title opportunity against David Jimenez on the Devin Haney vs. Ryan Garcia undercard in Brooklyn, falling short on the scorecards but gaining invaluable experience under boxing’s brightest lights. His breakout moment came in May 2022, when he captured the vacant NABA super flyweight title in explosive fashion, stopping Jan Salvatierra in a knockout that sent his opponent crashing through the ropes and firmly announcing his arrival as a legitimate contender.

Ramirez’s journey began in East Los Angeles under difficult circumstances. After spending part of his childhood in Honduras, where he moved at age eight, he returned to the United States alone at twelve, navigating life independently while his mother worked long hours. With two older brothers lost to violence, he remained committed to boxing as an escape from the environment around him.

Now training at Brickhouse Boxing Club in Los Angeles under coach Julian Chua, alongside former world champion Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramírez, “Scrappy” continues sharpening his craft through a blend of discipline, grit and determination.
