Gael Cabrera is steadily carving out his place as one of Sonora’s rising faces in boxing.

On May 20 he took that reputation to a bigger stage as he headlined a private charity event in support of the Sugar Ray Leonard Foundation. The unbeaten prospect from Ciudad Obregón secured a unanimous decision victory to improve to 11-0, with seven wins coming by way of knockout.

Cabrera has wasted little time making an impact since turning pro in June 2023. He debuted with a first-round knockout of Ulises Gabriel Rosales and has remained undefeated ever since, adding ten more victories to his record, including multiple highlight-reel stoppages.

Before turning professional, Cabrera built an extensive amateur resume that established him as one of Mexico’s top young talents. He is an eight-time state champion, three-time Mexican National Champion, two-time National Bronze Medalist and Silver Medalist at the 2022 IBA Junior World Championships. Across more than 200 amateur bouts, he developed a versatile, well-rounded style that has translated smoothly into the pro game.

Nicknamed “El Terror,” Cabrera began boxing at age four, inspired by his older brother Misael. Now training under Manny Robles alongside elite fighters such as Oscar Valdez, Serhii Bohachuk and Armando “Toro” Resendiz, he continues to sharpen his athleticism and knockout power as he looks to climb the ranks and bring pride to his hometown and country.
