Darius Fulghum continues his climb through the super middleweight division as one of boxing’s rising contenders.

In his most recent outing, “DFG” scores a third-round knockout over Cuban contender Yoanki Urrutia on the Amari Jones vs. Vincenzo Gualtieri undercard at the SAP Center in San Jose, delivering another emphatic finish to add to his growing resume. Prior to that, Fulghum battled Golden Boy stablemate David Stevens over ten rounds at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, serving as the co-feature to Vergil Ortiz Jr. vs. Erickson Lubin. The closely contested bout went the distance and ended in a majority draw.

Earlier in 2025, Fulghum faced his toughest test to date against Bektemir Melikuziev, where he showed his heart and durability in a hard-fought contest, but ultimately came up short via unanimous decision. Before that, he had a statement performance on the Oscar Duarte vs. Miguel Madueño card, scoring a clinical fourth-round knockout of Winfred Harris Jr. in the co-main event.

Before turning professional, Fulghum built an impressive amateur resume, ranking No. 1 in the United States as a heavyweight, winning the 2018 National Golden Gloves title and making a strong showing at the 2020 U.S. Olympic Team Trials. Now a 15-1-1 professional with 13 knockouts, the Houston native continues to build on his foundation as he progresses through the super middleweight ranks.

Outside the ring, Fulghum balances boxing with a career in healthcare as a licensed nurse in Texas, having earned his nursing degree from Prairie View A&M University. Training under Darnell Pierce in Houston, he also carries the mantra “DFG” — Destined For Greatness — reflecting his mindset and approach to the sport.
