BAD NEWS IS BACK!

After nearly a year and a half away from the ring, Charles Conwell made a convincing return on August 1 in Las Vegas, getting himself back into the win column in emphatic fashion. Facing Pennsylvania’s undefeated Paul Kroll, Conwell put on a fan-friendly performance, scoring a knockdown in the third round before closing the show with a ninth-round TKO victory.

Before his return, Conwell suffered the first defeat of his professional career in a hard-fought battle against Mexico’s Jorge Garcia Perez. Despite leaving everything in the ring, he came up short on the judges’ scorecards in a razor-close split decision. Rather than letting the setback define him, Conwell returned to the gym with renewed focus and determination, setting the stage for an impressive comeback in Las Vegas.

Prior to that, Conwell closed out 2024 by handing Argentina’s previously unbeaten Gerardo Vergara the first loss of his career with a dominant seventh-round knockout. That victory followed his long-awaited return in April 2024 after nearly 17 months away from the sport, when he stopped Nathaniel Gallimore via sixth-round technical knockout on the undercard of Devin Haney vs. Ryan Garcia at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center. Four months later, he kept the momentum rolling with another stoppage victory over Khiary Gray.

Now back in the mix at 154 pounds, Conwell is determined to remind the division exactly why he’s known as “Bad News.” With his confidence restored and momentum back on his side, his championship ambitions remain stronger than ever as he sets his sights on the super welterweight division’s biggest names.
