When Joel Iriarte steps into the ring, the outcome often feels inevitable. Known for his explosive power, the Bakersfield native has quickly established himself as one of boxing’s most exciting prospects, leaving both fans and opponents on notice.

Most recently, Iriarte earned a final-round TKO victory over Jorge Lagunas in their scheduled eight-round welterweight bout on August 1 in Las Vegas. From the opening bell, he controlled the action with relentless pressure and heavy-handed offense before closing the show in the eighth round.

That victory followed an impressive performance in Anaheim, where he stopped Los Angeles’ Rock Myrthil in the sixth round during his third appearance at Honda Center. Earlier in the year, Iriarte dominated Mexico’s Eduardo Hernandez at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino, scoring a first-round knockdown before ending the fight in the third with a crushing body shot followed by an overhand left to the temple, a combination that has become one of his signature finishes.

In April 2025, Iriarte captured the WBA Continental Gold Welterweight Title in his first scheduled eight-round contest, ending the fight in just one round with another devastating shot to the temple. Since making his professional debut under the Golden Boy Promotions banner in March 2024, he has stopped ten of his 11 opponents by knockout, showcasing the power and finishing instincts that have made him one of boxing’s brightest young talents.

Before entering the professional ranks, Iriarte compiled an outstanding amateur resume, representing Team USA from 2018 to 2021 while capturing 17 national championships and three international gold medals. Outside the ring, he founded Warmup Athletics in Bakersfield, a gym dedicated to empowering local youth while offering specialized programs for children with developmental disabilities.
